The Venomous Abyss Race to World First is underway. Blizzard opened the new Midnight raid on Mythic difficulty with the regional resets during the week of August 18, and leading guilds have begun their push through its eight encounters.

The goal is simple to describe and extremely difficult to achieve: become the first guild in the world to defeat Ula’tek on Mythic. Before reaching the final boss, teams must solve seven other encounters, improve their gear, adjust strategies, and keep a full raid roster ready for long progression sessions.

The event is not played on a special tournament realm. Guilds compete on live servers, so regional reset times affect when each group can enter. Many teams broadcast their progress, while viewers follow boss kills, pull counts, and strategy changes across community streams and tracking sites.

Blizzard’s announcement presents the race as an ongoing community event and invites players to follow every breakthrough and world-first kill. Method has also confirmed daily Twitch and YouTube coverage from its European progression team, supported by a large broadcast crew.

What is confirmed is that the race began with the raid’s Mythic opening and that Ula’tek is the final target. Live rankings can change quickly, so this article does not declare a leader or winner. Any claim about the strongest team before the final kill would be an inference rather than a confirmed result.
